While it happens routinely now, getting our products to outer space is still pretty cool for us here at Triad. But what's even more cool is when you've helped one of the world's most innovative space companies take another bold leap into orbit.
While “affordable” space travel may still be a stretch for most of us, what isn't a stretch is what an experience like this does for our team's confidence—and your future space project's success. Triad's savvy tech team collaborated with our customer, who embraced our experience in design and implementation of space-hardened microwave radio systems. Together, the team designed a low-cost, lightweight, high efficiency RF/microwave upconverting amplifier that met every expectation, including delivery.
Our work began as an outreach to develop the upconverter used in a payload hitchhiking on Falcon 9's for the SAOCOM 1B mission to launch a series of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. The upconverter not only had to be lightweight, extra-small, and rugged enough to handle the rigors of space launch and flight, it also needed to offer unprecedented low DC power consumption. These requirements resulted in a microwave subsystem in the payload that receives an L-Band input, upconverts the signal to X-Band, and amplifies the output to establish an ultra-fast, highly stable downlink back to earth.
Mission accomplished.
