Triad Introduces New High Efficiency C-Band 2×2 MIMO Rugged BDA

Triad RF introduces the TTRM4005DR, a 25W 2×2 MIMO Bi-Directional Amplifier, which operates from 4400 – 5000 MHz.

State-of-the-art GaN devices, along with complex matching circuits for the driver and final devices, allow the TTRM4005DR to deliver 5 Watts of OFDM output power per channel, while maintaining an EVM of 4.4%. 

Featuring an integrated heatsink and an IP67 rated DC/Control circular connector, the TTRM4005DR has been built to survive in all harsh environments.   The unit has been designed in the same manner as our other military products that have successfully passed the rigorous tests of MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-961

The TTRM4005D comes with several new features including the following:
Transmit Output Power Detector
Radio Input Power Detector
Status pin states if the unit has exceeded acceptable temperature levels or gone into a failure mode
Improved base plate temperature output circuitry
Production quantities have already begun shipping to several domestic and international customers of high speed video and data links

Triad Ships 10W Peak C-Band Rugged Amplifier

The TA4002R is a 10 Watt peak C-Band ruggedized power amplifier, housed in a compact but durable IP67 rated enclosure. This makes the TA4002R ideal for many outdoor applications, such as mast or tower mount locations, as well as on an aircraft. The TA4002R also draws a very conservative 1.2 A of current at 12V while providing over 2 Watts of OFDM power.

Triad Continues Production of 50 Watt High-Efficiency C-Band GaN Amplifier

Triad RF introduces another state-of-the-art GaN amplifier, the TA1203. The unit operates from 4.4 GHz to 5.0 GHz, has 44 dB of gain, and produces over 50W PSat! DC input voltage can vary from +10 to +14 V and only draws 8 A at peak power. This results in a powerful amplifier that is 47% efficient. The module measures 6.1 x 3.3 x 0.8 inches and is in stock.

Triad Ships New GaN Wideband Bi-Directional Amplifier

Triad has released the TTRM1200, a wideband GaN BDA that operates from 30 MHz to 2700 MHz and produces over 8W of TX power. One of our smallest BDAs measuring only 3.25 x 2.42 x 0.54 inches, this feature rich BDA is also one of the most efficient. While producing 8W of RF power, it only consumes 24W of DC power. It also produces over 2W of linear 16 QAM power with < 9% EVM. In order to operate on various existing platforms, the unit features a wide DC input range of +12 to +30 VDC. Switching between TX and RX takes less than 1 µsec and can be performed manually. Additionally, base plate temperature can be monitored via an analog temperature sensor. Dual Channel L-Band MIMO Bi-Directional Amplifier

Triad RF has shipped its latest Dual BDA, the L-Band TTRM1081D. This unit is compatible with all military and commercial radios and provides over 20W of peak RF power across 1.3 to 1.4 GHz, per channel. Made specifically for multi-in multi-out (MIMO) radios, providing 2 radio ports and 2 antenna ports, each providing 5W of COFDM power. The BDA operates off a single +28V supply and provides 25 dB of TX gain and 11 dB of RX gain in both channels.

New Triad CubeSat/NanoSat Amplifier Destined for Space

Triad has designed and launched the new TA1109, a small form factor circuit card amplifier designed to be integrated into CubeSat and NanoSat satellite systems. Weighing in at less than a half an ounce, the TA1109 is perfect for applications where small size and weight reduction is critical. Operating at 2000-2500 MHz, the TA1109 offers up to 4W of output power, with a voltage input range of +9 to +14 VDC.

Triad Releases 4th Generation GaN Bi-Directional Amplifiers

Triad RF introduces the 4000 Series of Bi-Directional GaN Amplifiers (BDA). The units operate in the Low and High C Bands, Federal C-1 and C-2 bands and the 5.2 & 5.8 GHz ISM bands. State-of-the-art GaN devices, along with complex matching circuits for the driver and final devices, allow the 4000 series to deliver twice the RF linear power while only consuming half to one third of the DC power of our previous generation C-Band BDAs! Various models in module or circuit card formats provide 64 QAM TX output powers of 2W, 5W, 10W, and 20W while maintaining 4.4% EVM.

The size of the 64QAM 10W unit (5.3 x 3.25 x 0.57 inches) is the same as the previous generation, but comes with several new features including the following:
– Transmit Output Power Detector
– Radio Input Power Detector
– Improved Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA), lower noise figure (NF).
– Auto detection mode provides an output signal that states whether the unit is in TX or RX.
– Improved TX and RX indicator circuitry
– Status pin indicating if the unit has exceeded acceptable temperature levels or gone into a failure mode.
– Improved base plate temperature output circuitry
– International Protection Rating = IP66
Transmit gain is 25 dB, while receive gain is 11 dB. These units still have the fastest switching time between TX and RX, less than 1 µsec! RF connectors are SMA Female and the DC connector is a 21 pin micro-Dsub.

The first 4000-Series model, the TTRM4010 has already passed environmental testing for a large defense manufacturer of high speed video and data links. Production is expected to begin Q1 of 2018.
